Everything you need to know before we meet at the launch — weather, arrival, what to wear, and what to expect on the day.
Paragliding depends on three ingredients being right at the same time: no rain, wind blowing gently into the launch face, and no low clouds blocking the launch or landing zone. Sunny skies alone don't guarantee flight — wind direction and strength matter just as much.
We'll confirm your arrival time the day before your flight. Even so, weather can shift overnight or mid-morning; if conditions aren't safe, we'll reschedule. Flexibility and patience are part of the sport.
If we can't fly on your booked day, our team will work with you to find the next flyable day. Adaptive and companion tandems, plus one-on-one pilot courses, run all season long.
Adaptive Airtime flies at five sites across British Columbia. Select yours to see meeting location, directions, and site-specific notes.
First flight: arrive between 10:30 and 10:45 am
Second flight: arrive at 11:45 am
A flexibility window of an hour or two is common — we're always at the mercy of the weather, so bring as much patience as you can. Expect roughly 2 hours from arrival to departure on a smooth-weather day.
At most of our sites we launch from over 500 m above the landing zone and travel through the air at nearly 40 km/h. Imagine standing on the outer deck of a morning ferry — and dress accordingly.
Once weather is confirmed, the day unfolds roughly like this:
If for any reason you feel uncomfortable — before or during the flight — please tell us. We'll wait, let you watch others fly first, or simply drive you back down. Your peace of mind matters more than getting airborne today.
Every co-pilot needs to sign a waiver before flying — both adaptive co-pilots and their companions. Minors need a parent or legal guardian to sign consent. Doing it online ahead of time saves ~10 minutes at the meeting point and gives you time to read carefully.
