P1/P2 Solo Pilot HPAC Certification Course

Cost: CAD 2,900.00 + GST

At Adaptive Airtime Paragliding, we pride ourselves on offering custom-tailored instruction that meets each student’s individual needs. Some students progress quickly, while others may take a bit more time. Our goal is to ensure that every student not only meets but exceeds the HPAC minimum requirements for the P2 rating, all while having a fantastic time. We guarantee that our graduates will leave with skills and experience far above average.

Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll receive your HPAC (Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Canada) P1/P2 Paraglider rating, certifying you to fly at thousands of sites worldwide without instructor supervision.

Unlike other schools offering the same services, net proceeds will be utilized to advance the Adaptive Paragliding initiative, providing the opportunity for those with disabilities to experience the joy of free-flight.

P1/P2 Course Details

The course curriculum will guide you through the required learning to make you a safe beginner pilot, as established by HPAC.

The HPAC P1/P2 Certification course typically spans 10-12 days. Additional time may be needed depending on weather conditions and individual progress.

What's Included

  • All Training Gear: We provide top-quality, brand-name equipment.

  • Instructional Tandem Flight: Before your first take-off, you’ll complete at least one tandem flight as a co-pilot under the direct supervision of your instructor. This first flight will give you a taste of the paragliding experience and is the safest and most rewarding way to get ready to start solo flying.  During this flight, once airborne, you will be allowed to control the wing and see how easy it is to fly.

  • A minimum of 25 Supervised Flights: Weather permitting, we fly multiple times daily to maximize training.  A flight is considered a takeoff, a few turns, and a landing, and can be anything from a few minutes to a few hours in duration.

  • Small Group Lessons: We keep our classes small, typically 2-3 students, for more personalized attention, with plenty of 1 on 1 instructional time to ensure you feel comfortable at every step of the process.

  • Ground School: Lessons include flight dynamics, weather, equipment, risk management, and basic air regulations.

  • Advancement to P3 and P4 Ratings: No additional charge when you meet the requirements.

  • Ongoing Mentoring: We’re here to support you long after the course is completed, and we are always open to providing advice and support as you progress on your paragliding journey.

  • Discounts on gear purchases

Additional Notes

  • Training Gear: All school gear is provided for the first 10 training days.

  • Purchase Your Gear: We recommend purchasing your equipment once you’re ready for your P2 certification. Having your gear allows you to practice flying your glider on the ground, referred to as “kiting” or “ground-handling,” and complete supervised solo flights on the glider you'll be flying after receiving your P2 rating. We will assist you in choosing the appropriate gear for your level.

  • Rental Gear After Day 10: If you haven’t completed your P2 rating or purchased your gear by day 10, you may continue using school equipment for a daily rental fee.

  • Helmet Purchase: We also suggest purchasing your helmet as soon as possible for safety and comfort.
